District receives highest award for 2016-2017 budget

PALATKA, Fla., Aug. 15, 2017 — The St. Johns River Water Management District has been awarded the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its fiscal year 2016-2017 budget from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) of the United States and Canada. Mary-Lou Pickles, director of the district’s Office of Financial Services and the district’s former budget director, also was recognized.

With geocaching, 'treasure' can be found on District lands

PALATKA, Fla., Aug. 14, 2017 — Modern day adventurers may score a new commemorative coin by geocaching on St. Johns River Water Management District lands this summer, just in time for International Geocaching Day on Aug. 19.

Three water management districts — the St. Johns River, South Florida and Southwest Florida — are finding new sources and new ways, through the CFWI, to maintain and build the area's water supply, while protecting the area's natural resources. Practicing water conservation at home is also critical to helping ensure adequate water supply in the community with outdoor irrigation a great water-saving potential.
